  • 8HP70 / 8HP75 8-Speed – Occasional shift glitches and park lock malfunctions in newer 8-speed Rams (some 2019+ models even had recalls for park pawl issues). These can lead to “stuck in Park” or, in worst cases, roll-away risks if Park doesn’t hold.
  • Older 46RE (4-speed) – Delayed engagements and shudder on early 2000s Ram 1500s, often due to worn bands or governor pressure solenoids.

Ram 2500 & 3500 – Heavy-Duty Haulers, Common Failures Solved

Big Cummins diesels and Hemi haulers push transmissions like the 2500/3500’s 6-speed to their limits. In the field, a heavy-duty Ram showing up on the hook often has one of these issues:

·         68RFE 6-Speed – Overheating under load and pressure loss are notorious problems in 6.7L Cummins trucks. The result? Burned-up clutch packs (especially overdrive), erratic line pressure, and harsh or limp-mode shifts when towing.
